Gold Award Project

Hello Everyone,

My name is Leah Frerichs and I am a local Girl Scout in Delaware. I have been in Girl Scouts for 13 years, I have completed my Bronze and Silver Award both involving homeless animals. For my Gold Award I wanted to go above and beyond the expected, so I decided to work with Laughing Dog Ranch and raise close to $3,000 for them! At first this number seemed unrealistic but soon after I began the project I realized how supportive my friends, family, and community truly are.

For my project I am using my Cookie, QSP, gift card ( that council gave me for reaching 500 boxes of cookies), and fund-raised money to help pay for the materials I am getting the shelter. I have decided that for my Gold Award I will create pamphlets on spay & neuter ( and the importance of it) along with a pamphlet on how to care for your new pet. I am also currently working on creating a partnership with a local shelter in Delaware to help transport the animals and find them a great new home! I am also making dog/ cat toys and beds for the animals. For my fundraiser I hosted a yard sale at a local school where I accepted donations ( anything from toys, to junk for the yard sale.) In that yard sale I raised to $782.61, my goal for the yard sale was to raise $700; not only reaching my goal but exceeding the amount that I thought was impossible.  With donations from the yard sale and money from the bake sale I made a grand total of  $500. When I included my Cookie, QSP, and gift card that I had, the total was $675. So when you add all those numbers up you get a grand total of $1,957.61.

The shelter is in need of close to $3,000 in order to get the supplies that they need, as of right now I am in need of $709 to help reach my goal. If you could contact me at frericsr@verizon.net to give or to get more updates on what is going on in my project please let me know! Also if you have any free time please donate it to this shelter, I know they don’t have much and anything you do for them would be greatly appreciated.
